Shakers and Stirrers- featuring Kevin Page, MA ’82

On June 20th, 2013, the Young Alumni Committee held its first Shakers and Stirrers event featuring former Parliamentary Budget Officer Kevin Page, MA ’82. Shakers and Stirrers is about supporting recent Queen’s alumni by creating a networking platform to develop professionally and personally as outstanding Queen’s graduates. Whether you’ve recently completed your academic career or you are already a young professional, these events provide the opportunity to make valuable connections to enrich your career after Queen’s.

With a sell out crowd of 60 people at the Heart and Crown in the Byward Market, our first Shakers and Stirrers event was a great success and allowed for many networking opportunities. Kevin’s speech captured the audience’s attention and provided a call to action for young alumni to make a difference and become the leaders that Canada needs. Drinks were had, new friendships were made and overall, the event was a great example of the value of alumni connections. This is definitely a format the Young Alumni Committee will use in the future, as there are many interesting Ottawa alumni who we would love to hear speak!
